Job Description:
Join an award-winning program at a college committed to service, civic engagement and reciprocal community partnerships. The Director of the Community Service and Civic Engagement Program provides direction, strategy, development, and administration of Champlain's community programs. The College's service programs support a number of student-driven service clubs and social action initiatives, community partners looking for engaged volunteers to make a substantive difference in the community, and a series of dialogue programs designed to foster community-building and civic leadership skills.
Facilitate and support the student-driven service and community action initiatives, providing guidance, resources, leadership development and models inclusiveness and collaboration.
Oversee programming originating from the department. Programs include but are not limited to Alternative Spring Break Service Trips, Tent City, and dialogue series.
Nurture and encourage ongoing relationships between Champlain and current community partners.
Works closely with the Director of Champlain's LEAD program to assist with project management of the life experience programs for students.
Coordinate a tutoring program as well as advising the educationally focused student service organizations.
Manage the general operations for the department including hiring and supervising student staff.
Responsible for the accurate reporting and documentation of all service activities and student participation numbers to be used in various reports including grant reporting.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 2 - 4 years of full-time experience in the advising of college student service programs, as well as management and event planning experience required. A Master's degree in Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration, Public Service or related field is highly preferred. Advising, tutoring, or mentoring programs and coordinating campus-wide events is desirable. Must be able to take initiative, be self motivated and be great at multitasking!
