Job Description:
The Head Resident is a 9-month (August 15-May 15) part-time staff position starting in early January 2010. The Head Resident will live in the student apartments in Dublin, Ireland during term time. This is a part-time position with approximately 20 hours worked per week in addition to on-call hours. A part-time salary is provided in addition to free housing.
This position is responsible for creating a positive community in the apartments and academic centre, emergency after-hours response, providing extended opening hours for the Academic Centre, and for developing and implementing some extra- and co-curricular programs for students. Duties include: respond to housing queries and issues, conduct accommodation orientation meetings with newly arrived students, ensure adherence to housing rules, develop fun and enriching activities and programs and be a positive role model. The successful candidate must understand what resources are available to students and be able to refer students and take action in emergency situations. In addition, the person must maintain an awareness of general student welfare and health issues. This person must get to know each student individually and actively help each student become engaged in the College and wider Dublin communities. The position is part time with primary responsibilities and shared on-call duties in the evenings and weekends.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required, available evenings and weekends, experience working with foreign students or in a student leadership role would be considered an asset, student services experience in higher education preferred. The successful candidate will already have the legal right to work in Ireland.
